Adam was more than just a computer. It came with its own desk, printer, hard disk and chair. Eve was not included.
Believe it or not, the above photograph was really the front page of the Adam brochure.

Adam was born in 1976 or thereabouts. Here are some of its specifications:

Central Processor Disk Drive
  • Proprietary design for ADAM functions
  • 16 bit parallel operations
  • 30 registers
  • 200 nano-second instruction time
  • 32 thousand bytes of working store
  • Automatic detection and recovery from power failure
  • Data transfer rates of 1.25 million bytes per second
  • Removable cartridge design, for unlimited off-line storage
  • Usable capacity - 10.6 million bytes
  • Average access time 35 milliseconds
  • Data reliability 1 in 10^12 bits transferred
  • Built-in cooling and double air filtration, for use in non-controlled environment
General Specifications
  • Air conditioning not normally required
  • Size - 75" (188 cm) depth, 84" (210 cm) width, 26" (65 cm) height
  • Temperature operating 70º F (22º C) +- 10º.
    Change in temperature not to exeed 2º F (1º C) per hour. Non operating 0º F (-18º C) to
    90º F (33º C).
  • Humidity - from 10 to 90% absolute, non-condensing
  • ADAM is protected from power failure.
    When power is restored ADAM resumes what it was doing whenthe power failed.
  • Eve - 36"-24"-36" (90cm - 60cm - 90cm)
