What security schemes are supported by Pragma 5?
Pragma 5 is more versatile than Pragma 4 or Pragma 3. To read about the various schemes that are supported read "Security" in the Pragma 5 Manual.
Can I use a Pragma 4 (runtime or programmable) dongel for Pragma 5?
Absolutely. There is no problem using a Pragma 4 dongel for Pragma 5. And this will not change in the future, unless some horrible technical problem will prevent us to read a dongel in Pragma 5. By the way, you can even use Pragma 4 dongels for Pragma 3, as long as you use version 3.73 or greater of Pragma 3.
I hate dongels. Why do you use them?
We know that you would never use Pragma in wrongful way. Unfortunately, not everybody is as honest as you are. Remember that the dongel can also protect your application from running illegally. See next question.
How can the dongel protect my application if anybody with a Pragma dongel can run it?
You can request a dongel with a special number from us, that will be sold only to you. Your application can test that number with the verb READ SECURITY VALUE and abord if it is not found.
What can I do to break my dongel?
A sure way to break a dongel is to connect a file transfer cable to it and then run a file transfer program like Laplink. Another sure way is to connect an external drive to your dongel. We recommend that you use a dedicated printer port for the dongel to avoid any problems. Bad power can also shorten the life of a dongel (and create problems with your computer). Why should I use a dedicated port for the dongel?
A bad printer can damage the block. If you attach a printer after the dongel, you must always remember to turn on the printer.
Help. Pragma 4 does not find the dongel on Windows NT 4.0.

I have an old Novell network dongel and I am changing to a Windows network. What can I do?
You can implement Goliath security. To do so please read the section
"Security" and "Goliath" of the Pragma manual.
Also read the technical bulletin "Goliath 5".
We will exchange the old network dongel for an equivalent Goliath dongel for the
price of the dongel.
