How do I network Pragma 5?

You have two options:

1. Keep the Pragma 5 executable (P5.EXE) on your workstation and the data files or the server. Fast and reduced network traffic. Updates of Vocab requires more work.
2. Put everything on the server and on the workstations make a shorcut to P5.EXE. Slower and more network traffic. Updates of Vocab in one place only. You are not allowed to write nouns back to the vocab.

Can I run Pragma 5 in a peer to peer network like Windows 95 and Windows NT?

There is no problem for Pragma 5 (and Pragma 4) to run in a peer to peer network. Keep in mind that you will end up using a machine as your "server", that will contain all the valuabe data. Choose that machine carefully. If that machines crashes due to a user doing something stupid or unproperly shuts it down, your Pragma data may become corrupt.

Can I run Pragma 5 on an Apple network?

No Pragma 5 can run only on Windows 95 and Windows NT. Apple computers are not supported.

How do I run Pragma 5 in runtime mode?

You make an entry in the PRAGMA.DES file that specifies the form or verb to run, like this:

PRARUN = VERB OR FORMNAME  (do not forget the space before and after the equal sign).

Be aware that  PRAGMA 4 type of programs are run differently.

I have more than one instances of Pragma 5 on my machine. Can I use the same PRMSG.PFM and PRSTD.PFM files for all the instances?

Yes, you can.  Put the PRMSG.PFM and the PRSTD.PFM files into any directory and then go to the Tools, Options, Various Parameters in Pragma 5 and indicate the path for these files.  Be aware though that the PRAGMA.DES file must stay with the PRVOCAB.PFM file.

Can I start Pragma 5 by clicking on the PRVOCAB.PFM files?

Yes, if you create an association under Windows for files with the PFM suffix and P5.EXE.  You can click on any PFM file only if the are in the same directory as the PRVOCAB.PFM file.
